  • A++++ Acacia Elementary School’s current enrollment is almost 800 students ?, which range from Kindergarten to 6th grade. Of our enrolled students, we service 62% of the underrepresented population currently in the STEM/STEAM professions. 

     

    Our S.T.E.A.M. vision at ? Acacia Elementary School:

    All students have full access to high-quality STEM/STEAM education that will prepare them with the 21st century skills needed for successful futures.

    Acacia has developed their own STEM/STEAM lessons for specific grade levels as well as continuing to increase STEM/STEAM opportunities for all students on our campus. These lessons are multidisciplinary, which include Science ?‍???‍?, Technology??‍???‍?, Engineering??‍¡â???‍?, Arts??‍???‍?, and Math?. Some of the lessons that we have implemented include robotics, box cars, and 3D printing. In addition to these specialized projects, each student at Acacia is receiving instruction in coding, which they practice in computers.

    Over the next few years, we envision having STEM/STEAM completely integrated into our school. This would be displayed in all of our students using the Engineering Design Process to problem solve, innovate new ideas, and to be a critical thinker. Teachers will be able to create and modify multidisciplinary lesson plans to provide students with real world experiences. Teachers will nurture students' learning by providing guidance, encouraging positive attitudes, and maximum efforts in integrated STEM/STEAM lessons. Students can apply their skills and have the opportunity to grow and improve on them in real world scenarios. ????

     

    Acacia was awarded a grant through NAU STEM Focus Schools for the Future. "STEM Focus Schools for the Future is a professional learning program designed for K-8 schools who are interested in integrating STEM learning school-wide. The purpose is to assist Arizona public schools to develop a more STEM-literate workforce by building school capacity to design and implement effective STEM instruction."
