Purpose:
The purpose of the K-8 Science Curriculum Adoption Committee is to review, evaluate, and recommend quality and appropriate science instructional resources for approval by the district Governing Board.
Objectives:
The committee will:
- Learn about current best practices in three-dimensional science instruction including (but not limited to);
- explaining phenomena and/or designing solutions to problems,
- using science and engineering practices to actively engage students in science learning,
- integrating disciplinary core ideas and crosscutting concepts to drive student learning,
- science sensemaking,
- three-dimensional performance assessments.
- Learn about Arizona Science Standards (AzSS) and Arizona science education requirements.
- Use research-based rubric criteria to evaluate science curriculum materials and instructional resources.
- Recommend curriculum and instructional resources to the Governing Board for formal approval and adoption.
