When do you need to STOP for a school bus?Learn and obey the school bus laws. Learn the "alternate flashing light system" school bus drivers use to alert motorists of pending actions:Yellow flashing lights indicate the bus is preparing to stop to load or unload children. Motorists should slow down and prepare to stop their vehicles.Red flashing lights and extended stop arm indicate the bus has stopped, and children are loading or unloading. Motorists must stop their vehicles and wait until the red lights and stop arm have been deactivated.Divided roadway:
A divided roadway is one in which the road is separated by physical barriers such as a fence, curbing or separation of the pavement. Roadway striping by itself does not constitute a physical separation of the roadway.
