• My name is Shannon Gray and I am the proud Principal of Desert Foothills. I have had the pleasure of serving in multiple middle schools in the Â鶹Íø as a teacher, an Instructional Coach, and an Assistant Principal. Now, I am both honored and excited to be a Scorpion! On behalf of our school and staff, I would like to communicate our excitement for a great school year!
At Desert Foothills, it is our mission to ensure high levels of learning for all students.  This is accomplished by having a strong foundation of mutual respect and collaboration within the entire school community.  We look forward to partnering with you this year to provide the best experience possible for each and every student.
Desert Foothills has many wonderful opportunities for students to get involved both during the school day and with after-school activities.  During the school day, students are placed on academic teams to provide extra support and interventions that help meet the needs of all students.  Along with five core classes, students have the opportunity to choose an elective class.  Elective classes that are offered at Desert Foothills include drama/theatre, exploratory music, choir, orchestra, band, guitar, keyboarding/piano, PE, art, STEAM, and leadership classes.  This is a great opportunity for students to find areas of interest as they prepare for high school.  Outside of the academic day, there are many sports, clubs, and After-School Academy classes for students to participate in.
If you have any questions, I would love to speak with you.  Either call the office at 602-896-5500 and ask for me or send me an email at shannon.gray@wesdschools.org. I am also available to schedule in-person meetings.
Please know that I am here to support you and your student(s) and look forward to meeting you soon!
    Shannon Gray, M.Ed.
