Attendance
Parents and guardians are to report the reason for their child’s absence by calling our attendance clerk at 602-347-4202 on or before the day of the absence.
Absences are excused for reasons such as illness, doctors appointmens, beareavement, families emergencies or observance of major religious holidays of the family's faith.

Before/After School Care
Quality before and after is provided on site for school age children of Shaw Butte through our KidSpace program. Space is limited, so early registration is important. Call 602-347-4215 for details and rates.

Breakfast and Lunch
Breakfast and lunch are free to all students. Our cafeteria serves nutritionally balanced meals each regular school day. Breakfast for all children is provided at the beginning of the day in homeroom.
Students are discouraged from bringing full sized bags of snacks to the cafeteria. Once the bag is opened, students will not be able to take it out of the cafeteria and the remainder must discarded. Students who do not have their student ID will go to the end of the lunch line and may lose their recess for violation of dress code.

Dress Code
Uniforms are not required but students must adhere to the dress code.
Student IDs are an essential part of the dress code. IDs must be worn by all students at all times for safety purposes. IDs are required to ride the bus.

Extracurricular Activities
Shaw Butte Elementary offers a number of extracurricular activities to our students.
Basketball is offered for students in grades 4-6. Cross country is offered for students in grades 1-6.
With funding by a 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) grant and the Washington Elementary School District’s Community Education Program, Shaw Butte offers After School Academy classes to eligible students.

ParentVUE
All parents and guardians have a ParentVUE account that can be used to access important information about their student such as grades and attendance. Parents/guardians will need an activation key to log on for the first time. You can obtain an activation key by visiting the school office and bringing a photo ID. If you have a registered email, you can also request account activation online. Please visit /ParentVUE to get started.

Preschool Programs
Shaw Butte is home to two Head Start preschool classes and a special needs preschool. Students must qualify for these programs. Please contact the school office for additional details.

School Supplies
The Â鶹Íø provides all required school supplies, though teachers may send home a "wish list" of additional, optional items.

Student Drop-Off and Pickup
Students are not to arrive on campus before 7:10 a.m., unless they are enrolled in KidSpace, as there is no supervision before this time.
To minimize disruptions to class, no students will be released between 2:15 and 2:30 p.m., unless it is an emergency approved by administration
Students are dropped off and picked up through the pull-through lanes on the east side of the school. If parents need to come into the building or talk to a teacher, they need to park in the parking lot. No cars are to be parked in either pickup lane.
At dismissal, students must leave campus or go to the Shaw Butte day care program or after-school programs, if registered. Parents/guardians must provide a note to the teacher about any changes in the student's after-school routine

Transportation
Students may ride the bus to school based on thier home address. Bus routes are available online by clicking here.
Students in Grades K-2 are not permitted to ride bicycles to school unless accompanied by an adult. Students in Grades 3-6 may ride bicycles to school. Bicycles must be walked on campus and secured in the bike rack. The school is not responsible for lost or damaged bicyles. Skateboards are not allowed.
Students may also walk to school. Please review with your child the safest, as well as quickest, route to and from school. Students must be advised to avoid strangers and to take other precautions in case of an emergency.

All visitors are required to sign in at the front office and recieve a visitors badge.
